The WonderGate, also known as MobileWonderGate, is a communication adapter kit that had been developed for WonderSwan handheld consoles.[1]
Features[]

The main device allows the WonderSwan console to be connected to a mobile phone through the accessory port. A separate cartridge contained an e-mail client and browser that supported HTML 3.2 and allowed downloading of 32KB mini-games. Some titles, such as Digimon Adventure 02: D1 Tamers, allowed the addition of features through downloadable content.[1] Other titles, such as Mobilesuit Gundam MSPlatoon.com and Super GPS Pac-Man, were announced with WonderGate support, but were cancelled before release.[2]
Internet connectivity was provided by NTT Docomo's mopera (Mobile Operation Radio Assistant) service and J-Phone-compatible handsets.[2][3]
Releases[]
The MobileWonderGate was announced by Bandai on June 23, 2000 and was released on July 14, 2000.[1] On October 31, 2001, Bandai announced that online service for WonderGate-connected games was being terminated.[4] The remainder of online game services ended on March 31, 2003, though the e-mail and browser software continued to function.[5]
